Montenegrin america
Tracing Montenegrin lives across America
A documentary and research project uncovering the journeys, labor, families, and legacies of Montenegrin immigrants in the United States through archives, interviews, fieldwork, and storytelling.
Project overview
History worth bringing forward
Montenegrin America documents a story that has too often remained scattered across family memory, mining towns, military records, church communities, and local archives.
By connecting descendants, historical sources, and place-based research, the project builds a fuller picture of how Montenegrin immigrants shaped American life while preserving ties to their origins.
